Environmental Permitting Rules 04/10

With effect from 6 May 2010, a new set of consolidated and revised rules will govern integrated pollution prevention and control, waste management, water discharge, groundwater and radioactive discharge activities.  There have been many changes to the rules relating to waste management, in particular as to whether an activity now requires a permit (standard rules or bespoke), whether it can still qualify for registration or whether it now requires registration.

REACH and Waste 05/10

The ECHA has published guidance on how REACH interfaces with wastes and recovered substances. The document sets out the conditions under which legal entities recovering substances from waste can benefit from the exemption in Article 2(7)(d) of the REACH Regulation.  It also expands on the obligation to share information in the supply chain - as set out in Title IV of REACH - which is not set out in the exemption.
